Meet the Practitioners

image of Mr. Russell Jeffrey Russell, M.S., Dipl.Ac., is a nationally-licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. He completed his four-year Master of Science degree in traditional Chinese medicine in California, which has the highest concentration of educational, research, and patient care centers for Chinese medicine in the U.S.He is a graduate of the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science in Oakland, Ca.
 
Mr. Russell continues to study Dr. Wang Ju-Yi's channel palpation theory acupuncture. He also uses Master Tong acupuncture methods and continues to intern with Dr. Jimmy Wei-Yen Chang, a renowned Chinese herbal medicine master. Bluegrass Chinese Medicine is conducting research in affiliation with the University of Maryland and Ford Motor Company on low back pain. Mr. Russell is an appointed member of the Acupuncture Advisory Committee to the Kentucky Medical Licensure Board for a four year term. Bluegrass Chinese Medicine crafted the legislation for acupuncture in Kentucky, bringing our state up to the highest national standards.
 
image of Ms. Ochs Shelley Ochs, M.S., Dipl.Ac. is currently living in Beijing, China where she is collaborating with the well-known acupuncturist Dr. Wang Juyi on a book project with the aim of recording and preserving the oral transmission of his medical thought and practice. Shelley is a translator and associate in his clinic, the Acupuncture Channel Palpation Research Center. In addition, Shelley is also teaching in the bilingual program of the Acupuncture Institute at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. She has recently published an article in Mandarin Chinese in the China Acupuncture Journal, making her one of the few non-Chinese to ever publish in the Journal.
 
Beginning in 1989, she has been engaged in the study of Chinese language, culture, and medicine. Her formal education includes a B.A. in Chinese Literature from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a M.S. in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Bilingual Program of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. Shelley was a co-author of Jiao shude's Ten Lectures on the Use of Medicinals from Paradigm Press (2002).
